The central location was lively and felt safe overall, and most of the staff were helpful. Horton stood out for his kindness and professionalism. Still, some staff weren't as helpful, and that inconsistency affected our stay. We were also harassed by some guests; I know that's not the hotel's fault, but staff didn't step in or react, which was disappointing. There was visible mold in the shower area, too, which shouldn't be the case at this price. It's a lovely hotel in many ways, but with what we experienced, I'd probably pick somewhere else next time for the same budget.

We made good use of the business class room on a few occasions. Jorge was a lovely host, and there was fresh fruit, snacks, and even spaghetti. Ordering through Meituan was handy too, with deliveries left in the lobby or in the Meituan box outside. We stayed six nights in a business twin on the 32nd floor, with a great skyline view. The room was perfect, and the staff were really nice. Turn-down service came with chocolate and a pillow mist. Breakfast had loads of choice, including freshly cooked dumplings and omelets made to order. We were too busy sightseeing to try the pool. The location worked brilliantly for getting around, right above a subway station and at the end of Nanjing Road. I thought it would be farther away, so Google Maps seems to get it wrong sometimes. For places farther out, we mostly took cabs or Didi, which were so cheap, about $3-4 for a 20-minute ride.

The service didn't leave much of an impression. One staff member tried speaking Chinese with my partner, who couldn't understand and got a bit impatient with him. The concierge kept my item for three extra days after I left, though he seemed reluctant about it. The location was convenient for calling a taxi and close to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. We booked both a Superior Queen Room and a Junior Suite. I'd skip the Superior Room and pay extra for a suite: the superior rooms felt older and more worn, while the suites seemed to have had more recent renovations. The hotel overall also feels dated compared with other places that have been updated more recently. It was okay, and I wouldn't rule out staying again, but next time I'd probably pick another hotel.

The location made this place a real find, right in central Shanghai, with great subway connections and lots of attractions within walking distance. The rooms were lovely, and booking early may let you upgrade to a suite for a little extra, without it costing a crazy amount. Everything was very clean, the service was great, and breakfast was excellent.

Breakfast cost a lot, but it was very good, and the reception staff spoke English well and were generally helpful. The hotel itself was decent, though quite dated and not really at a five-star level. The biggest letdown was losing a whole day of our vacation over a room change. We'd paid for a Deluxe Suite with two separate rooms and large windows, but the first room we got looked nothing like the photos. There wasn't another option available when we asked to move, so we had to wait until the next day to get the room we'd expected. We also had to remind staff several times that there were three of us, and ask again for a third bathrobe and another set of towels.
