October 2025: I brought my relatives to Ramada Wujiaochang Shanghai because it offered the best price for what you get in the area. A suite was $78, including tax and two buffet breakfasts, with no tipping in China. We enjoyed the neighborhood for shopping and eating. Right across from the hotel, you can get a tasty bowl of vegetable wonton soup for $2 (15 RMB) including tax, compared with about $20 after tax and tip in Los Angeles. Beijing Tong Ren Tang is across the street too, if you're interested in Chinese medicine treatment for a particular area. They’ve been renovating the guest rooms gradually. The ninth floor may be your best bet, since all the rooms there were remodeled five years ago and have a Biden Toilet. Subway line 10 is within walking distance. To get to Pudong, you could take the new line 18 for a one-seat ride, though the subway is a 20-minute walk away or a $2 taxi ride. 2019: This was my third stay at RAMADA SHANGHAI Wujiaochang. I was glad to see renovation work underway, with the third and fifth floors being rebuilt at the time. The morning buffet offered 30 items for $7 (50 RMB) per person, enough for most visitors. Line 10 was about a 10-minute walk away, and from that station you could visit a newly opened underground plaza with 13 exits.

This was the worst experience. The room was dirty, and there were used condoms in it. The staff couldn't speak English.

Elevator No. 1 shook while running and stopped about 10 cm below the correct floor. That’s dangerous for guests. We reported it to the manager, but he said it was normal and simply stopped the elevator without explaining anything. Reception had already been told about the problem several days earlier, but it kept running as usual because the fault only happened occasionally. The hotel took no action at all. The management was terrible.
