Regal Jinfeng Hotel

The cafe menu is in English and has vegetarian choices, and the breakfast selection is huge. A label showing what contains meat or pork would make things easier for vegetarians and other guests with preferences. The breakfast hall on the second floor gets crowded, so going early or very late might help. The hotel has an orange tree bonsai theme, with lots of tiny oranges, which gives the place a nice feel. There’s a small but well-equipped fitness center, plus various paid spa and massage options. I understood the sauna and steam bath were closed, though that came from attendants on the spa floor who weren’t especially friendly. Only the assistant manager and a couple of receptionists seemed able to understand and reply in English. Maybe that’s why the staff sometimes felt a bit cold. It’s a good business hotel, above average, though not especially efficient or classy.

I know this hotel well from a four-week stay when I first moved to Shanghai. If you need to be in the Jinqiao area, there aren’t many good options, and this is one of the better ones. The rooms are large and clean, the price is affordable, and breakfast is pretty decent. Getting around is easier now that a metro station has opened about a 10-15 minute walk away. The staff don’t speak much English, which could be a problem.

The price is good, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. For Pudong it’s an okay location, but there isn’t much to see or do nearby unless you need to be in that area. Only one restaurant was open for dinner, and the food was mediocre at best. For anything interesting, you’ll need to take a cab somewhere else.

Really nice, quiet hotel, and very clean. The rooms are fine, and the restaurant is incredible, with lots of signature dishes.
