Seagull Hotel Jinshan

I keep staying here because it’s the “best” option in this area, but that doesn’t make it nice. The rooms are large and well furnished. The A/C is the problem: there’s no numeric control, just cool to warm, and even the coldest setting with the fan turned up does little against the heat of the Chinese spring and summer. You can ask the desk for a janky fan, or sweat yourself to sleep every night. The “gym” has equipment from around 1998 and some free weights. Breakfast is a substandard Chinese buffet, and the only dinner choice is a vastly overpriced Chinese restaurant. One welcome change is the new bar, which opened in April. Before that, the hotel was dry. I’ll review the bar separately.
