Shanghai Sky168 Youth Hostel

The location is okay, but the hotel is dirty, outdated, and poorly maintained. The room and corridors smelled and were noisy, the staff were rude, and the toilet kept clogging and getting soaked. They only supplied half a roll of toilet paper for our large family suite. Even an extra hairdryer required a deposit.

At 130rmb a night, this was a good find and better than most hostels. Four people could fit in the twin room, with two adults sharing each bed. The walls were dirty and moldy, but the bathroom was better than other places at the same price in Shanghai, where I’ve found dirty bathrooms and broken fixtures. I wouldn’t pay more than 130 for it because of the cleanliness. It’s a 12 minute walk from the Railway station and 10 minutes from the nearest metro, basically downtown, with tourist spots within five metro stops. The security deposit is 100rmb.

Fine for a transit stop or one night. The bed was comfortable and the necessary amenities were there. The room was okay, though the bathroom smelled a little. There were mosquitoes in the corridor, thankfully not in the room.

The location is good and the staff are helpful, which are the best things about the hotel. The rooms feel very dated and need improvement.
