Shanghai Xiangyun Resort Hotel

This hotel is set up especially for families with children, probably best for kids aged 1 to 8. It's about 10 minutes from Disneyland Park and not far from Lego land. Good highway connections make Shanghai's eastern, northern, and western areas around 45 minutes away. A Didi taxi to Shanghai costs about 150-180 yuan each way. The restaurant serves a decent breakfast and stays open until 10:30 pm. Its Chinese menu is very varied and has some unusual dishes. The casserole dishes are especially good, so I'd recommend trying the local Chinese food. European options are available too, but there are fewer of them and they're simpler. The staff are friendly and helpful, and transfers can be arranged on request. There are animals for kids, including rabbits they can feed for free, and children's pools in summer. English isn't spoken, but the online translators at reception made communication easy for us. I'd recommend having Alipay and WeChat on your phone. The restaurant uses WeChat QR codes for both the menu and payment, which is handy. The hotel is in a village, with no grocery shops within walking distance. ALDI is a 10-minute taxi ride away and has European-style produce, including Australian Shiraz red wine for 40 yuan, which is very hard to find in general. Family Mart is 7 minutes away by taxi. Disney town doesn't require tickets to visit and has lots of cafes. For European-style food, Blue Frog restaurants are pretty good, though not outstanding, and relatively expensive.
