The room was spacious, elegant and impeccably clean, with a stunning view. Its design and attentive service made the stay unforgettable. Every team member we met was kind and professional. I was especially touched by how respectfully guests of different nationalities and religions are accommodated. Finding a prayer rug and a copy of the Quran in our room meant a lot to us. It showed cultural awareness and the gracious spirit of the people of China. The stay left me with a very positive impression of Chinese hospitality, which felt respectful, genuine and sincere. The Peninsula Shanghai gave me one of the finest hotel experiences I’ve had. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, professional and attentive to every detail. It sets a new benchmark for luxury and hospitality, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city. Without a doubt, one of my best and most memorable stays in Shanghai. I was traveling with my dad and had booked The Peninsula in Shanghai after being so impressed by my stay at The Peninsula in Bangkok. I wanted to explore more of the chain, but this was a disappointment. For the price, you seem to be paying for the location and hotel decor, since nothing else stood out, not the service or amenities. Breakfast looked and felt skimpy and uptight. It also seemed odd to serve it in the hotel lobby, which didn’t have any seating area. The whole stay wasn’t memorable. We regretted choosing it and would rather try other hotels at that price. The one thing I might remember is that we stayed in the same hotel as an NBA player, that’s all 😆

For food stalls, great photo spots and a little holiday twinkle, Christkindlmarkt (Christmas Market) brings festive magic to Shanghai. It’s near Peninsula Hotel Rockbund. Go after dusk, when the lights are worth seeing.
