Thompson Shanghai Expo, by Hyatt

The front desk helped me figure out directions and get used to the apps I needed while staying in Shanghai. Service was top notch throughout, and the housekeeper was really sweet when I asked for help with the trash. The hotel is beautiful, very new and clean. Breakfast had lots of great options, and they also offered a nice welcome latte or americano at the front desk.

The rooms at Thompson Shanghai Expo were bright, spacious, new, and had good views. Breakfast was great, too. What stood out most was the staff, who kept going out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. I was impressed by the service again and again. We had a wonderful two-night stay, and I'd definitely recommend the hotel and come back to Shanghai to stay here.

The subway was much easier to figure out than we expected, and it's very close to the hotel. We learned to use it because most of the things we wanted to do needed a car otherwise. The location also has a nearby mall with tons of places to eat. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and really enjoyed it. Breakfast had plenty to choose from and kept us full most of the day. The view was stunning, and the rooms had everything we needed, including robes, slippers, comfortable beds, and great water pressure. The staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. We loved staying at the Shanghai Thompson Expo, and would happily return again and again.

The 20th-floor bar, TOTS, was a highlight, with a great view and tasty signature cocktails. I had the flaming drink in a Moai head glass, which was epic. Susan, the bar manager, was fantastic. She checked that we were looked after and kept us updated about the local scene. She speaks perfect English after working in Sydney, and deserves 5+ stars. Everyone was kind and accommodating during our short stay. We only had a small language barrier speaking English, and Google Translate helped a lot. I'd love to come back for a longer visit.
