UrCove by Hyatt Shanghai on the Bund

The breakfast had good Western choices, including omelettes, and the location was excellent. I also liked the modern feel of the hotel, the clean rooms, and the staff service.

Good location and a great hotel!

We stayed in a twin room as a family, and it was great value in a really good location. The cruise on the huangpu river is just across the street, and Yuyuan subway station and Yuyuan garden area are an 8-minute walk away. The free laundry service was very useful, so we didn't need to bring as many clothes.

The soundproofing was very poor. Every morning, housekeeping made a racket and we could hear it all clearly. The staff also seemed poorly trained and unhappy overall. They didn't provide basic guest information like checkout time or ask whether I needed breakfast. My room didn't match the photos. The room I chose showed a sofa, a dyson hairdryer, and a view that wasn't mouldy or filthy. I didn't get any of those. I felt severely shortchanged. Urcove is affiliated with Hyatt in name, but that's all it amounts to for me. Even after I booked through the official channel, they didn't recognize my Hyatt explorist benefits. Worse, they removed my stay from the system after checkout, so I lost my qualifying nights. Service was far below the other Hyatt brands in China. I stayed at Hyatt Centric for the rest of my trip, and the difference was night and day. This will be my first and last stay with UrCove.
