WEFLOW Hostel

The staff were kind and helpful. They gave us extra duvets when it was cold, and let us order things to the hostel, keeping them safe until we arrived in China. Someone travelling with us had stayed there several times before and said it had been much better before the pandemic, but hygiene was questionable now. There was staff clutter throughout the lobby and rooms, including contact lenses, a shaver, eyelash extensions, shoes, and clothes. The bunks were okay, with charging points inside, space for hangers, and a shoe rack, but staff shoes filled the rack, leaving guests nowhere to put theirs. They also came into our room to dry freshly washed clothes on our hangers. The bathrooms weren't cleaned during either of our stays. Soap was scarce and the dispensers didn't work. Sometimes there were towels for drying hands, but no paper otherwise. The showers didn't look clean, and staff belongings were under the entire sink area. The presumed boss even shaved in the middle of the lobby while we were eating food we'd ordered. Six friends stayed in a separate room, where there was black mold behind the beds and in the air conditioner. All six got very sick. It was okay for just a few days, but for somewhere near Shanghai's centre, I'd choose another place.

The Xintiandi location was filthy and hot, and staff were around day and night. Nothing seemed to get cleaned. The showers were grimy and moldy, and the bedrooms were dirty and dusty. I was glad to get out.

The beds felt very clean and private. The bathrooms were a bit dirty and cluttered, though that's what I'd expect at such a cheap hostel.

The location is completely wrong, nothing like what Booking shows. Very misleading.
