Laundry was straightforward: I dropped it off, filled in a form, and they brought it back once it was ready. There are two convenience stores just outside, plus Manner and Starbucks coffee. The firm mattress and pillows were great after a day out, and you can buy them there too. The view rooms were disappointing because the hotel is hemmed in, with the main road and other buildings blocking most of the view. At check-in, staff pushed an upgrade and breakfast for extra cost, though they did show us the rooms before we chose. The entrance is through a short, uncovered alley that looks a bit shabby. The hotel has changed names, which caused confusion, and it was hard to confirm the right listing on Amap and Google Maps.

The main issue was noise from the room corridors, rather than from outside. The rooms themselves were clean, nice, and good. The location is handy, about a five-minute walk to both the Bund and Nanjing Shopping Street.

I was in the basic room, which had no windows, but it never felt stuffy. Everything was clean and tidy, and the hairdryer was powerful with loads of outlets. Shopping streets and pedestrian areas, plus street vendors, were only steps away, so getting around was easy. The price felt high for mainland China. Deliveries were left on a downstairs shelf and couldn't be brought up because there was a security gate upstairs. My main annoyance was the door: I could hear everything clearly in the hallway.

The room has no refrigerator, which was the one small downside. The bed and room were comfortable, and the quiet alleyways made for a pleasant stay. It's close to the Bund, under five minutes on foot from Nanjing East Road, and less than a ten-minute walk to the subway. Breakfast had plenty of fresh variety. I preferred the Chinese dishes to the Western ones, and the quality was high. You could order scallion oil noodles, wontons, fried eggs, and rice noodle soup, alongside freshly made millet porridge and tofu pudding with lots of toppings, plus fresh fruit and salads. They also offered late-night snacks, useful whether traveling for work or leisure. Front desk service was excellent, overall service was good, and the hotel has a washing machine.
