Shangri-La Nuanxiang Danzhu Courtyard (Dukezong Ancient City North Gate)

They were waiting outside the hotel to welcome us with snacks and a Tibetan scarf as a good-luck gift. The staff were very helpful, and the hotel provided a free taxi pickup from the train station. Our room was nice and spacious, with heating and a small oxygen generator for sleeping to help prevent altitude sickness.

We were comfortable at altitude thanks to the underfloor and bed heating, humidifier, and oxygen concentrator. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the shower worked perfectly, and the complimentary breakfast and excellent coffee were a real highlight. The rooms are new and modern, in the old town but away from the busy parts. We felt genuinely valued from the warm welcome onward. Communication was prompt and flawless in excellent English, even before our stay, and the free shuttle ran both ways to the train station. We also got excellent advice about excursions. We'd gladly come back and highly recommend it.

The room is modern and really affordable, with Chinese breakfast included in the price. The young reception staff speak English and the service is impeccable.

A cute, affectionate brown dog named Barabara was around, and there's a cafe downstairs. We also appreciated the washing machine and dryer, plus the free shuttle to the train station. The hotel is cute and easy to walk from when exploring Dugezong Old Town, and the reception staff were very attentive. Having an oxygen concentrator in the room is helpful for anyone dealing with altitude sickness. The one downside was no elevator. Our suitcases were huge, 32-inch and 30-inch, after 30 days in China, but the staff helped carry them up.
