My wife and I are from Singapore and had our first visit to Shantou. We stayed for three nights and checked out today, 13 NOVEMBER 2025. The staff were courteous and helpful, and we enjoyed talking with them. We liked being in a quieter part of the city, near an interesting wet market, small supermarkets, convenience stores, independent shops, and local eateries. Breakfast at the hotel’s "The Great Room" was a highlight each day, with lots of delicious Shantou staple foods. Our "Standard Twin Room" was adequate, although the space between the sink, toilet bowl, and toilet door was very narrow. The hotel gym was small, too. We had a nice stay and recommend this place if you want accommodation away from Shantou’s hustle and bustle.

The room maintenance was really poor, and there was no fridge. It fell short of what I expected. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and I won’t be coming back.
6/10
The food was tasty, especially the meatball noodles, and there was free self-service laundry around the clock, along with coffee and tea at the restaurant. Some front office staff spoke basic English. The non-smoking room on the non-smoking floor had no cigarette smell, and the female restaurant staff were friendly and tried hard to help my family and me despite not speaking English. The room was less clean than I expected. There was a lot of debris on the carpet when we arrived, and it wasn't vacuumed daily. The AC cover was very dusty, and we found dead cockroaches on the floor. Parking spaces were tight.

The person who greeted me at the front desk was friendly, which was nice. The room and bathroom were small, though clean enough. Getting around wasn't very convenient, since we basically had to take a taxi to and from the hotel.
2/10
We lost something valuable in the room, and the manager came over after reception called her. She told us we needed to look after our belongings more carefully, right there in our room. That was so rude and completely unhelpful. Very disappointing. We'll never return.
