We were at the station today, 13 NOVEMBER 2025, to catch a train from Shantou to Guangzhou. WOW, it's MASSIVE, BEAUTIFUL and CLEAN, with good ventilation and excellent amenities. We LOVE it!

There are public buses from Shantou Station to Nanao Island, and you can reach Shantou directly by high-speed train from Hong Kong.

There's just one gate at this old railway station, and seating is limited. I'd suggest arriving only about 30 mins before departure.

The ride from Shantou Station to Chaoshan Station takes only a little over 20 minutes. You can also take high-speed rail from Shantou directly to Hong Kong, or head south to Dongguan and Shenzhen. From Hong Kong, the high-speed train runs straight to Shantou Station, and buses there go directly to Nan'ao Island. China's high-speed rail network is extensive.
