Holiday Inn Shaoguan Downtown

I stayed in room 708 for two nights, checking in on Nov 29/2023. Before leaving the next morning, I put the “Do not disturb” sign on the door because I didn’t want the room cleaned. I’d put a cover on the bed and didn’t want housekeeping moving things around. They cleaned the washroom, which I was fine with, but also moved my bed cover and pillow. I’d brought only one cover for the trip, so after other people had touched it I couldn’t be sure it was still clean. That felt completely unprofessional and left me with a bad impression of the hotel, regardless of how good the other services were. I hope staff are trained to read guests’ instructions carefully instead of just following their usual routine.

The room was tidy and roomy enough, and room service was quick and inexpensive. The hotel has new, clean facilities and sits right beside the city’s largest, most modern mall, which was scheduled to open within 2019. Getting to the old city can take up to a 20-minute drive.

Clean, comfortable, and good.

A really great hotel.
