Le Meridien Shenyang, Heping

After more than 20 hours of intercontinental travel, I got the rest I needed in a very comfortable room. It was spotless, with every detail close to perfect. My flight had been delayed two hours because of the weather, so I reached the hotel around 3 a.m. Echo at the front desk welcomed me warmly. Since it was past the usual check-in time, the system had automatically canceled my reservation, but duty manager Serena helped sort it out quickly. The hotel sits in the heart of Shenyang, near the railway station, and there are plenty of amenities close by. Getting around for transit or sightseeing was convenient. I’d highly recommend it.

The staff were helpful and accommodating, and parking was easy, though weekday traffic outside could get a little hectic. The hotel is very central, so it was easy to walk around the city and back. This was my first stay at the hotel and with this brand, and I was impressed. My room was spacious and clean, with fresh towels each day. Breakfast had excellent food and lots of options for travelers from around the world. There seemed to be airline crews and captains eating there daily, which felt like a good sign. I’d recommend it and would return.

The lounge food made for a memorable stay, though it sent me running to the bathroom. This is the third time someone in our group has been hit by the so-called “Shenyang Shuffle,” and we’re done taking chances here. If you want to lose 10 pounds faster than you can say “detox,” maybe this is the place. The bidets were a lifesaver and gave my backside the royal treatment through the ordeal. Credit to the room service robot, too, for keeping me hydrated. At least the technology works well!

The staff exceeded my expectations and helped me make the most of my time in Shenyang. The room was extremely comfortable, and breakfast had a great selection. I also liked the lobby bar and the five-star amenities. The hotel is next to the main shopping district and within walking distance of the Shenyang railway station. For a luxurious stay in Shenyang, this is the best hotel I’ve found.
