Somerset Heping Shenyang

The apartment was large, with a bedroom and TV, a family area with another TV, and a pantry stocked with an oven, cooking utensils, and good cutlery. The bed and sofa were comfortable, and we had a nice view of Shenyang city. There was also a separate small room with a washer and dryer, plus soap powder and dishwashing liquid. Breakfast buffet had a good mix of local and western food. Check-in and checkout went smoothly, and the railway station, Zhongshan square, and a huge shopping street beside the building were all within walking distance. A taxi from Taiyuan airport took 40 minutes and cost 85 Yuan.

They’ve got an indoor playground for kids and a game room for adults. You can play golf indoors too, though you have to pay at the front desk. The service was wonderful, and they can send a robot to your room if you ask. The beds were really comfy. Breakfast is mostly Chinese food, but it’s really good.

We felt really well looked after at Somerset Heping and would stay there again. The rooms were well equipped, and the service was excellent. Even with the no cleaning sign on the door, staff checked whether we needed bottles of water. They also arranged airport transport for a very reasonable fee, and our early check-in request was confirmed before the trip. The location worked well for us, central and next to the Shenyang Train Station. There’s a convenience store downstairs, plus plenty of food options along the street. A couple of small things could be better. In room 1620, a couple of doors were tight and hard to close, though they did shut with some force. It would also be useful to have signs for more eco-friendly service options, like trash pickup and water top-ups without changing the sheets and towels.

Check-in was quick, the service was great, and I liked having a washing machine in the huge room. The café coffee is good, and the gym has great, quality equipment. My only issue was the lack of a hotel-style lobby where you can stop the car comfortably. I understand that comes with it being a service apartment, though. All good!
