The staff at Ascott Raffles City Shenzhen made a stressful arrival much easier. Before we got there during the Chinese New Year holiday, the booking platform cancelled three of the four rooms I’d reserved for my family. The front desk lady on duty stayed calm, professional, and incredibly helpful, arranging three rooms despite the holiday rush and making sure everything went smoothly. Her help turned a frustrating situation around. Our Executive Studios were comfortable for a family, clean, and well maintained, with a washer/dryer and kitchenette. Breakfast had decent choices, with small menu changes each day. The location is excellent: right by Raffles City, with lots of restaurants and cafés, plus a Walmart due to open in Mar 2026. The area felt more relaxed and less crowded than some of Shenzhen’s more popular malls, which we appreciated. There’s also a fashion wholesale town close by, and Nanyou MRT station is within walking distance, so getting around was easy. We had a comfortable, enjoyable stay and appreciated the team’s professionalism and hospitality. We’d definitely consider staying with Ascott elsewhere in the world now.

The room amenities were good and replenished every day, and the 24-hour fitness center had a nice view of the balcony. But I expected too much after staying at Ascott Beijing. I’d booked a room with a balcony, then the front desk lady said she was upgrading me to a two-bedroom room. I was traveling alone and didn’t want a two-bedroom room without a balcony. When I explained what I wanted, she gave me another room with a balcony, but it was still a two-bedroom layout, different from the room I’d booked. She said my original room type was fully booked, but that wasn’t my responsibility. They asked whether I wanted any decoration in the room, but there was nothing there. Breakfast was supposed to open at 6:30. I arrived then, along with other guests, but when I asked about the menu, the waitress said we were too early because they hadn’t changed the dish labels yet. I’d already put some food on my plate, and the menu said chicken when it was beef. The bellboy and doorman never greeted me or offered to help with luggage. I stayed four nights and never saw a smile from them.

Nancy at the front desk was wonderful and so helpful. The room was great, sparkling clean, and everything was in top shape. Breakfast was relaxing and wonderful too. Shenzhen is a great city to visit, with lots of amazing things to see, and the whole trip was a perfect experience.
