Hampton by Hilton Shenzhen Science Park

The breakfast food needs better labeling. We had to ask which condiments were which, such as the soya sauce and vinegar, and the chicken and beef sausages were served together, which is a problem for people who don't eat beef. The porridge and dinner soup were lukewarm, and the butter had melted and solidified. The butter and jams were placed near a toaster and didn't seem to be in good condition at first. Apologies were given about the breakfast issue. The display looked great, but food safety and hygiene need improvement. The service felt short on experienced staff, which made for a disappointing stay. During check-in, the access cards malfunctioned twice, the process took a long time, and the face recognition system failed.

I really like this Hampton. The rooms are clean, and the hotel is pretty nice. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Google Maps puts the hotel in the wrong spot. It's actually about half a mile from the location shown there. See the attached picture.

When I first came into the room, I smelled smoke. I couldn't tell if it was left by the previous guest or coming through the ventilation system. The decor was fine, though the huge TV hanging on the wall while I ate breakfast was pretty amusing. The breakfast wasn't to my taste. Some things were too watery, while others had a smell that was too strong. Overall, the stay was okay.
