Hongfeng Hotel Shenzhen

I paid 53 USD when I stayed in April 2014. It was not bad, and I'd stay again if I visited. It's near luohu station for going to hong kong and getting to the local metro.

The room has been renovated and the modular design is okay, though the outside of the hotel looks old. That didn't bother me, since the age reflects the varied tastes of people of different ages. The bigger problems came with the water and food. Both times I boiled water, it was full of bubbles, and the same happened when I poured a glass. The bubbles didn't go away after boiling, and the water smelled. I called the hotel, and a technician said splashing water on surfaces can sometimes create bubbles. I then called the cleaning lady, and seeing it left me very upset. It felt like management was shifting blame because of its own issues. I insisted the manager come investigate. I also said that, with the country open to the world, this kind of quality would draw criticism. They later offered breakfast and dinner in the same way. We ordered one breakfast per person, but the next morning was shocking. The breakfast looked worth only a few tens of dollars, and there was no one there. I ordered noodles and managed a couple of bites, but the broth was so clear and the food so tasteless that I stopped eating. There was also congee with side dishes, fewer than I've seen at any domestic hotel that includes breakfast. Even hotels in Jiangmen costing at least 150 yuan have six or seven different dishes. I hope Lee Hotel improves its staff and the hotel itself before opening to the public.

The amenities feel a bit dated, though the rooms have satellite service. Xiangxicun Station is conveniently nearby.

The rooms are quite clean, but the facilities are a little old. Shenzhen Hongfeng Hotel has been around for a long time, so that isn't surprising.
