Jinjiang Inn Shenzhen Diwang Square

The location is correctly marked on Google maps, and it’s about an 8-minute walk to either Grand Theatre or laojie station. I had a mixed stay at Hubei Business Hotel. It was comfortable, conveniently located, and cheap, which made it a decent welcome to China for me. But the room had some stains on the walls and felt a little dirty. My phone couldn’t use the wifi because of the firewall, the sink water gave me diarrhea, and I found one medium-sized cockroach in my room over four nights. This morning I also saw a baby roach in the lobby. Be warned. There’s a Chinese restaurant in the hotel open for lunch and dinner, though I never tried it. A 7-11 is on the ground floor, with a familymart around the corner. The AC worked, but wasn’t very potent. I couldn’t figure out some of the room quirks. Filling the sink with the plug left me unable to work out how to unplug it. In the elevator, pressing my floor lit up several others too, so I had a few stops on the way up. The toilet needed the flush lever held down for a full flush. The odd light-control console only had some working buttons. Pressing one gave me a very light shock, and there was an audible click from the wall, as if the electrical work was janky.
