MGM Shenzhen

We stayed in four rooms on the 13th floor. My parents and I had connecting rooms, 1136 and 1137. Our kids loved the pools and outdoor playgrounds, and the playroom was handy for adults too since you can just drop the kids off. There's also a fun outdoor show at night. The sea and beach views are stunning, the balconies are spacious, and the hardware feels luxurious. It's kid friendly, and the hotel has four restaurants. I liked Fiamma Italian best, where we had a quiet meal in a private room. The location is on Shenzhen’s scenic Xiaomeisha coastline, about an hour from Shenzhen Cbd and 30 min by cab from Hong Kong border. Xiaomeisha and Yantian are lovely to explore. Service around drinks was disappointing. At lunch in Fiamma I couldn't order either a cocktail or a glass of wine. The dinner buffet had plenty of food, all-you-can-drink beer, and one cheap wine, but no decent alcohol alternatives. We ended up ordering a bottle from the bar to be delivered. Fiamma's food was good, while the dinner buffet was just ok. The room was $273. Even at 4:30 pm, only three of our four rooms were ready for check-in. The rooms weren't clean either. I found ashes in a toilet room corner, most likely from a cigarette left by the previous guest. None of the staff who came to our rooms for different reasons took their shoes off. The hotel had only been open six months and has a good location and hardware, so there's a lot of potential. Cleanliness is one issue, and I hope the other problems can be resolved over time. 3/5.

We had a great time here. It's an awesome hotel, and the service was really friendly.

There's still a lot of construction in the area, and nowhere to shop yet.
