Great street food right beside the hotel, and the place itself is beautiful for the price.

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel was. The bed was comfortable, the staff were friendly, and there were free water bottles and breakfast included. There's a washer and dryer, plus a large shopping mall nearby. The washroom curtain is small enough that someone outside might pull it aside and see in, which I didn't like. The breakfast cereal was bad, but otherwise it was a good stay.

For about HKD 400, the room felt like a great deal. It was spacious, with a sofa and beds big enough for two people each. The place was very clean, without a dirty spot anywhere. There were lots of restaurants close by, and Nantou Old Town was within a 10-minute drive. One odd feature was the floor-to-ceiling glass between my bathroom and the bed. Pull back the curtain and you can see into the other room.

I had a great stay here in July, so I booked again for January 23rd to 25th, 2026. When I arrived around 9:30 PM, everything seemed fine. Then, while I was eating and sitting in the room, it got hotter and hotter and I was sweating. I asked the staff for help, thinking the air conditioning was faulty, but they couldn't resolve it. They said the hotel used central air conditioning and had switched it to heating after some guests complained about being cold. Shenzhen was at 11 degrees Celsius then. I understand using heat in that weather, but guests should still be able to choose cooling or heating. The room controller showed both options, yet staff said the central system was set to heat, so cooling wasn't available. They insisted I had to use the heat even though I was sweating. Their suggestions were to leave the door open for a while, or ask for a fan if it got hot at night. Was I supposed to sleep with the door open? They also said all the nearby hotels used heating and I had no choice. I checked three hotels right away, though, and all had rooms with either heating or air conditioning. They called this a central system, but there was air conditioning in the hallway too, which made their suggestion to leave the door open even stranger. At 1 AM, I took my son and walked 10 minutes to another hotel. I don't live in Shenzhen, and that walk at that hour was scary. Thankfully the other hotel had air conditioning. I booked through an online platform, so Trip.com handled the issue for me. Even after a lot of negotiation, this hotel still insisted on deducting half a night's room rate from my stay. If you're uncomfortable in a sauna-like room or with an unpleasant temperature, be careful about booking here in winter. Ask before checking in whether the room can cool as well as heat. The website says there's air conditioning, but they won't let you adjust it themselves.

I've stayed here twice now. There are lots of restaurants, supermarkets, and convenience stores nearby, and the subway isn't far away. The location worked well for me, and getting to the airport takes about an hour by car without traffic. This time my room type was a little strange, and it faced the main road opposite the linen room, so it was somewhat noisy. The staff were attentive, though, and cleaned the room to my preferences. Extra toiletries were available for guests to take, breakfast had plenty of choices, and the front desk was very welcoming. I'd recommend the hotel.
