My dinner at Summer Palace was a highlight. Chef Liang was sincere and knowledgeable, and suggested excellent dishes that suited my taste and were very reasonably priced. The people made my time at Shangri-La Nanshan feel genuinely warm and memorable. Wendy from Guest Relations had arranged everything before I arrived, including a room upgrade and an easy check-in, even though she was off that day. She stayed attentive and caring through my visit and made me feel valued, not just accommodated. Emma, the Front Desk Manager, was thoughtful too. When I extended my stay, she prepared new room keys in advance and handed them to me personally at breakfast. Service like that feels personal and genuine. I'm grateful for the care and look forward to coming back.

The renovation looks amazing, and the hotel is beautifully redone, but using some of the room features was unpleasant. The utilities, space, sliding doors, and sofa beds all had issues. Breakfast at the cafe was subpar for what should be 4-star quality. The lobby and check-in area were a mess when lots of people arrived and left at once. Everyone was squeezed into the small check-in space and the small lobby for the 4 elevators, even though the hotel has the space to handle things better. The experience was terrible. I've stayed with Shangrila many times in the past, so it's disappointing to see it perform below its competition. I hope they do better in future.

The views and peaceful feel made it easy to unwind, and Shangri-La Nanshan is in a great spot. Winnie at the Lobby Lounge deserves a mention too. She was thoughtful and attentive, and her kindness made the stay even better. The hotel itself feels elegant. I'd happily recommend it.

The room views were unreal, and being right downtown meant great restaurants and shops were all around. I loved this five-star hotel, it feels like a work of art. Clean, great food, and 10/10 service from the staff. Definitely coming back ❤️
