After I left a small suitcase at the hostel, they charged me for every day it stayed there. Nearby hotels don't charge for luggage, but I had an important trip and couldn't return to collect it. About 30 days later I contacted the manager and offered to pay something to get the bag back. The front desk was rude and wouldn't let me speak with the owner or manager. They insisted on charging by the day, apparently without checking with their manager first. By then, what they wanted would have bought me a new suitcase, and shipping would cost extra. I even suggested they could just keep and use it. They got angry and said they'd block me, meaning they wouldn't host me again. The hostel is old and costs more than other nearby hotels. Why would I go back and pay extra after getting service this bad? Good luck with those people.

The neighborhood was a real plus, with shops for books, clothes, accessories, and artisan goods, plus breakfast right outside. My private room had two beds and a balcony, and was just roomy enough for two. It was clean and tidy, with a nicely laid out bathroom. The hostel was peaceful, and had cute cats. Breakfast, luggage storage, and laundry were available at low prices.

The old building is still in decent shape, though there's no elevator, just stairs, so heavy bags could be a hassle. Shenzhen Loft Youth Hostel is right in OCT Park, surrounded by restaurants, bars, and convenience stores. From Qiaocheng North Metro Station, Exit B, it's around a 20-minute walk. Apple Maps helped me find it. A budget-friendly place in a lively area.

A clean, well-priced place for a stopover. It's reasonably near the Metro, so there was no need to risk getting scammed by airport taxi drivers.

I was only in Shenzhen for one night, but really liked the hostel. It's in a lush, pleasant neighborhood, a short walk from Qiaocheng East station on the green line. The place was very clean, staff were friendly and spoke English, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. I wish I'd had more time there. The two-bed dorm setup felt a little odd, though, sharing a small room with just one stranger when hostels often put four or more people together.
