Shenzhen Vienna International Hotel(Xinzhou br)

The view is nice.

The rooms were pretty clean during my school exchange stay, though sizes varied a lot. Some were small, others quite spacious. There was a food delivery robot and the hotel had a Western-style feel. The setting was just average, with room to improve.

Breakfast didn't give me much reason to eat there. The buffet has a noodle station, but I'd suggest McDonald's at the nearby Carrefour, which opens at 8:30am. The rooms at the lower price don't have windows, and the ones that seem to have one are actually mirrors. Wi-Fi appears to be available, but getting the password requires a Chinese mobile phone to access a specific address and receive a text, so an overseas phone won't work. The front desk speaks Chinese only, though Mandarin is fine. I was told international cards weren't accepted, but my VISA worked.

I paid 1720 yuan through eLong. The staff were cheerful and greeted me with a smile when I came in. They also remembered the details I'd asked about and followed up on them later, which was thoughtful. When I checked with the supplier about credit cards, they said they were accepted, and told me they'd call ahead with my checkout time.
