The roast chicken was a standout, and everything we ordered was fragrant and full of flavor. We had a fantastic meal with great service from Luis, who was courteous, helpful, and worked hard. He made a quick decision to sort things out and keep our experience on track, which says a lot about how well management empowers the staff.

The oysters were juicy and crisp, a really nice surprise. The happy hour deal is great value, with a glass of Prosecco and three oysters included. The Prosecco was a bit sweet for my taste.

For a birthday or anniversary, TERRA MADRE is a lovely choice. The Burrata salad and Lobster tagliolini are must-tries, and the dishes are beautifully plated with generous amounts of quality ingredients. The cooking was flawless. The restaurant is a collaboration between avant-garde Italian chef Antimo Maria Merone, from HK Michelin-starred Estro, and his long-time protégé Oscar Wang, who now leads the kitchen in Shenzhen.

The food was okay, but the service was badly lacking. I ordered a Caesar salad to start, and the waitress confirmed it would come first. I waited 25 minutes, then my pasta arrived without the salad. When I asked for the salad first, she took the pasta away. I asked her to check on the salad 15 minutes later, and five minutes after that she came back with a new bowl of pasta. The salad never arrived, and nobody apologized.
