The Clouds Apartment

The room itself was pleasant, and the housekeeper I saw now and then was a really sweet, kind woman. There were a few useful extras too, like seating spots outside the rooms and a free laundry room. Still, three stars feels generous, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. We couldn't find the place for about half an hour because the hotel sign said “Grade Hotel,” which didn't match the name we were looking for. We ended up walking in circles with our suitcases in the hot, humid weather before asking another hotel for help. Check-in added more stress: the receptionist asked for another 6.2K RMB even though my boyfriend had already paid through Booking.com for our full 11-night stay. He called it a deposit, but Booking.com hadn't said the online payment was only a deposit. After we asked for a manager, we got the room key without paying the extra 6K RMB. My boyfriend had also requested something special for my October 3 birthday. They confirmed they'd received the request and would arrange it, but nothing was done. Turning 21 mattered to me, so that was a big letdown. The sheets weren't changed daily, and stains stayed on the bed for three days until I messaged them on WeChat. I don't think a guest should have to ask for that. We could hear children next door screaming and crying despite the claim that the rooms are soundproof. The AC took an hour to cool the room, then switched itself off in the middle of the night and wouldn't come back on however much we pressed the controls. A bedside USB port was broken, and the toilet stopped flushing one night while water kept running noisily. They didn't fix it until the next day. There was hardly any closet space, so we had to live out of our suitcases. The receptionists' English was very limited, and even though English was an option on the TV, the content still appeared in Chinese. I also had to contact reception through WeChat far too many times.
