Xicheng Hotel

The location and surrounding area were great, and the bed was clean, spacious, and fine to sleep in, if a little hard. But the stay was disappointing otherwise, and the hotel badly needs an upgrade. We booked two rooms for two nights as a business stay in November 2019, and the website photos were VERY misleading. The rooms had stained carpets, with some edges loose by the walls. Countertops were badly stained, and the kitchen had a sink but no tap. Wallpaper was peeling at every edge and stained, possibly from water damage. One bedside table was damaged and marked. In the bathroom, the window latch was missing so I couldn't shut it all the way, and there was an open drain beside the toilet. The sink seal was black with dirt or possibly mould. One room's couch had cigarette burns and stains. They also advertised a balcony, but the doors were nailed shut and wouldn't open even a crack. Breakfast was another letdown. The restaurant was called a western restaurant, but breakfast was only Chinese food: hot noodles, vegetables, and white bread, with no toaster. If we'd known, we wouldn't have added breakfast. The restaurant itself was fine, but an international hotel would usually offer other cuisines. This room would be fine if it were cleaned up and repaired.
