The dinner buffet was a highlight: hotpot, lamb chop, steak, sashimi, desserts, drinks, and more for ¥168 per person. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself was beautiful with great amenities.

We arrived at the restaurant as a group of five, and were told they were so busy that placing our order would take 45 minutes. That’s incredible. Hilton, please change your name, because it doesn’t mean anything here.

The breakfast service was a mess on both of my visits. Plates and bowls were often missing, we had to ask for knives, forks, and spoons, and tables were cleared slowly. Nobody at the hotel spoke English, despite it being an American brand. I stayed here for two separate nights, before and after visiting the Qomolangma base camp. The rooms were clean and comfortable. One ground-floor room had a patio you could walk out onto. Oxygen supply beside each bed stopped at 7 am.

The breakfast had a coffee machine, which was about the only nice thing there. The heating and air conditioning are centrally controlled, and the room was unbearably hot, so I couldn’t get a good night’s rest. They also lost our bags while moving them from the breakfast area to the concierge, then took them up to the 5th floor even though we communicated in Mandarin. The room numbers are super complicated, probably to stroke the managers’ egos. Our hair dryer was faulty and they wouldn’t replace it, saying we could only go up to level 2, only Level 1. Please don’t stay here unless you have no choice. I suggest spending a night in Shangri la for top-notch customer service.
