I liked how quiet the resort was, and the staff were professional and accommodating. My deluxe garden-view room was lovely, especially the big window, and breakfast had plenty of good options. Getting around was the downside: there aren't shops or a bakery nearby, and even finding bottled water meant buying it at the resort or walking to a distant vending machine. Taxis were hard to find, the nearby restaurants seemed very quiet, and the resort was under renovation.

The gardens were peaceful and made it easy to get away from Suzhou's roads for a bit of quiet reflection. The lake view is a real treat, and the hotel sits close to restaurants and tea houses. Li Gon Di bar street is also within about a ten-minute stagger back, if you're up for it. I came for a wedding, and the venue handled a mixed group of guests really well. The staff, food, and setting were all marvellous. Its theme is loosely Thai, mostly in the architecture and garden ornaments, without the clichés of chickens wandering around or bands around trees. I live in Suzhou, so a weekend stay here would be a bit much for me, but visitors looking for something different from a busy high-rise hotel should have a great time. It's one of the nicer places to stay if you like being outdoors and close to the ground.
