Suning Yayue Hotel (Zhangjiagang Pedestrian Street Manbatt Square)

I stayed six nights at Suning Ya Yue Zhangjiagang in a spacious executive queen room. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and patient with my limited Chinese. It's a Chinese hotel with very little English, but I had no trouble having parts delivered there during my stay. I'd probably come back, though the carpets badly need replacing. The hotel is on floors 7-9 above the electronics mall, with access through a doorway at the building's west end. My room was in the curved southeast corner, facing the intersection and river, with panoramic floor-to-ceiling glass that doesn't open. The windows are only single glazed, but nights were quiet because there wasn't much traffic. Other outward-facing rooms have standard sliding aluminum windows and might be noisy. There are also inward-facing rooms overlooking a void, which should be quiet but don't get much light. The air conditioning worked well, but at check-in I had to choose a floor depending on whether I wanted heating or cooling. The large blackout curtains did their job. There were universal outlets and USB ports beside the big bed. My room had a kettle and tea, but no coffee, minibar, or in-room safe. Breakfast was a limited buffet, though you could order eggs. There was no butter for the sweet bread, and the machine coffee was actually okay. The carpeted hallways help keep noise down, but the carpet was very dirty and worn, which really dragged down the hotel's quality. Yancheng Old Town's newly opened restaurant area is an easy walk away. The large Mambat Mall is directly across the street, as is the big Freshippo supermarket in Basement 1.
