There’s a lot going for the price: the location is great, with many shops nearby and two different metro lines, and the rooms are comfortable and clean. There are also several room options if you’re traveling with friends. Considering the location, room size, and amenities, I thought the price was great. My one gripe wasn’t enough to stop me recommending the place. Staff members’ English ranged from mediocre at best to almost nonexistent. I don’t think I could have managed with the first receptionist if I hadn’t already known some Chinese. If you don’t speak a little Chinese, bring a phone translator and that should solve the problem.

The staff kindly moved me to another room, which earned them the one star, but that room was also occupied by other long-stay guests with no manners. The guests staying long term had left the room heavily smoky, so don’t even think of booking a bed here. I’d recommend another hotel instead. It costs only about 10 USD more, and you can get your own safe, clean, quiet room.

A private room cost less than 140 CNY, which is a great price. But the street noise at night was pretty unbearable, even with earplugs. Just remember, this IS a youth hostel, so .....

The attached bathroom leaves very little room to wash up, and the four-bed dorm itself feels cramped compared with dorms I’ve stayed in elsewhere.

The rooms were well kept and the location was good. We had a nice stay, though buses were really loud from the lower-floor rooms.
