The open-air garden terrace at The Ritz-Carlton Club on the 5th floor was my favorite spot, a leafy little oasis in the city. From our Panoramic Room, waking up to the old neighborhood and Shantang Road was unforgettable. The room paired modern design with subtle Suzhou details like elegant latticework. The Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou feels personal and carefully put together, an intimate escape in historic Gusu rather than a huge, imposing palace. Its modern artworks draw on Suzhou's 2,500-year history, and dinner at Biao Xia, with its exquisite Jiangnan cuisine, was a highlight. The Ladies and Gentlemen were as warm and attentive as promised, and made us feel well looked after. A great fit for anyone after a refined, intimate stay with a strong connection to local culture.

The bar was a highlight, with a big selection of wine, beer, and food, attentive service, and a terrace where you can enjoy a drink with a cigar or cigarette. Breakfast was fabulous too, especially the eggs benedict cooked right in front of you, along with plenty of other choices. Service throughout was five star: always ready to help, but discreet and behind the scenes. The rooms were comfortable, modern, and well designed, with everything you need. What a hotel, everything was great. I recommend it without hesitation.

The rooms were spacious and tastefully done, and breakfast was amazing. The hotel's interior feels sophisticated but still welcoming, and both the ambience and service were stunning. It's right in the heart of the city, and the staff were all very professional. One of the best hotel stays I've had.

The location in the historic district made it easy to walk to Shantang Street, Xiyuan Temple, and the Lingering Garden. I also liked how the design brought together classical Suzhou garden influences and modern comfort, instead of leaning on the usual Ritz-Carlton opulence. It felt culturally connected while still sleek and contemporary. Service was the strongest part of my stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou. Before I arrived, someone called to confirm my preferences, and those details had clearly been noted when I checked in. The warmth felt genuine. By the second day, several staff members knew me by name. When I mentioned that my room lacked greenery and that an artwork was obstructing things, the Director of Rooms (DOR) and General Manager (GM) took care of it quickly. Both issues were fixed by the time I got back from dinner. The hotel is newly opened and still working out some details, but the team was exceptionally responsive. Food was strong across the Chinese restaurant, bakery, and Western kitchen, with authentic flavors at the Chinese restaurant. The Western items at breakfast were excellent, though I would have liked a wider range of local Chinese dishes to better represent Suzhou cooking. There are a few drawbacks. The nearby commercial district is still being developed, so the views are limited, and the gym could use more space. With no bar and few activities beyond dining, some guests may want more to do. Still, the thoughtful design and care from the staff made this a standout choice for comfort and cultural depth. For a first visit to Suzhou, it makes a great base for exploring the city's character, and its flaws were outweighed by its strengths.

The next morning at checkout, I told management what had happened. From the manager's demeanor during our short conversation, I didn't feel my concern was being taken seriously. I got a poor apology, but no sign of a real investigation, genuine concern, or follow-up. As a Titanium Member who has stayed loyal to this brand for its reputation and service, I expect better safety, accountability, and care, especially at a Ritz-Carlton. I strongly urge management to investigate and take immediate steps to protect guests' privacy and security. The incident began around 8:00 pm, shortly after I checked in. A staff member knocked and asked to come into my room. I said no, but he kept insisting. Later, I went down to the lobby with a colleague to collect an iced tea that had been ordered for me. When I returned, that same staff member was inside my room without permission. He looked nervous and was sweating. I asked why he was there, and he said he was “ensuring I had great service.” That explanation felt unacceptable and unconvincing, so I told him to leave immediately. A few minutes later he knocked again, this time trying to bring a bottle of water even though I already had several in the room. The repeated behavior felt highly suspicious and left me feeling unsafe. This stay fell far below the expectations I have for the brand.
