The location is the big draw: right by the Plover Cove Reservoir dam at Tai Mei Tuk, with the Pat Sin Leng foothills nearby. It works really well as a base for hiking, cycling and water sports, and there are barbecue spots beside the hostel plus plenty of places to eat around the area. Buses and minibuses, including routes 20C and 75K, run to Tai Po town in about 30-40 minutes. The grounds are lush and green, and the staff do what they can to keep mosquitoes and other insects away. Rooms and facilities are in good shape, tidy and mostly clean.

Tai Po has places to visit like Kadoorie Farm and Tai Po Waterfront Park, and you can rent a bike from the hostel to explore the area. There are trails right nearby, a public barbecue site, and plenty to do for hiking and water sports, so it's a nice option for exploring the New Territories or having a relaxed break on a budget. Getting there took me about 30 minutes from Tai Po subway by minibus. If you're carrying a large suitcase, take the bus instead. It was much better than I expected.

I only spent time here for an event, rather than staying overnight. The views are really nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The accommodation looked a little rough for my taste, though it seemed fine for the price.

A nice spot to bike or fly a kite, with a good view of the famous reservoir in Plover Cove Country Park. There's also a barbecue area where family and friends can relax.

The outside paintwork looks amazing, and the location is very nice. I didn't get a chance to stay, so I can't really review the details. Maybe someday.
