Right in the city centre beside the train station, this hotel is nice and clean. A night costs around RMB400 or more, with breakfast included, so it’s fairly affordable. The Chinese restaurant has a limited menu, but the food is good. I’d recommend it for a short stay in Tai Yuan.

The hotel is beside a busy road and around 5-10 minutes from the airport. It’s new, with a modern look and a well-planned layout. Check-in is on the second floor. The staff are helpful, though their English is limited.

For late-night arrivals, the location near the station is handy. The rooms are spacious, quiet, and very clean, and breakfast is generous. Good value, too.

The main issue was street noise. There’s no soundproofing on the windows, so you can hear traffic, and I’d definitely ask for a courtyard-facing room. Still, the rooms were large and clean. I saw three of them, and breakfast was good, with plenty of Chinese food plus some Western choices like butter, toast, cereal, jam, and honey. The hotel opened in May 2019. It’s next to South Station for high-speed trains, and there’s a kiosk, snack bar, and McDonald's in the same building. Good location overall, and I can recommend it.

The walkable location by Taiyuan South Railway Station is really convenient. At 358 including breakfast, the price is good, and upgrading to a titanium suite is quite a deal at Fairfield by Marriott Taiyuan South Railway Station.
