The exterior is attractive and is really the building’s standout feature. Inside, the rooms need better upkeep and cleaning: the walls were stained and the bathroom looked very old. The gym wasn’t working. There is a spa open 24 hours, and the room comes with plenty of things, including bottled water, tea-making facilities, a toothbrush, robes, and slippers. I wish the rooms had been looked after better. I wouldn’t come back.

It’s a historic hotel with nice rooms, though it doesn’t have amenities such as a pool, gym, or sauna. I really liked the Chinese restaurant, especially the mutton, which goes very well with Fenjiu (Fenjiu).

Taiyuan has photo spots with a Spirited Away kind of feel.
