Having an oxygen machine in the room is useful if you start feeling dizzy, and the coffee setup is a nice touch: coffee is available around the clock, including drip packs instead of just instant coffee. The WiFi ran a little slow. Breakfast was okay, with the usual noodle station and other cooked dishes, though I wanted more choice. A decent place to stay in Tashkurgan, operated by Mercure.

The community space is roomy, and there’s a bar too. It’s close to lots of restaurants and the sightseeing spots are walkable. Rooms were clean, prices seemed fair, and the staff were friendly and spoke good English, which is hard to come by around here. I was told booking in person could cost almost half as much as booking online. The bathrooms are semi-open, though, and could be cleaned more often since the smell carries through the property. If tourism picks up in Xinjang, this could be a great place for travellers. I can highly recommend staying here.
