Xinjiang, in the People's Republic of China, feels like an out-of-the-ordinary destination. Urumqi and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region have lakes, deserts, snow and skiing, local markets, archaeological sites, wetlands, canyons, and museums to see. There are about 22 million people here, including nomads. The food list includes fried rice, Peking duck, Chinese hamburgers, Chinese crepes, chicken, pork skewers, noodles, glutinous rice, legumes and vegetables, boiled dishes, and spring rolls. A hotel here costs just 11 euros. Visa: hello, 15 days with a return ticket and a new passport, expiring six months ago. Hello more, or for other reasons, you want a visa from the embassy. Time: plus six hours from Athens. Currency: one Chinese yuan equals 0.12 euros. The capital is Beijing, of course. Thank you.
