City Comfort Inn Wuhan Huanghelou Hubu Alley

We got there around 11am on a weekday, when a lot of shops had only just opened, so it was pretty quiet. Prices are generally affordable. I’d recommend the Cai Lin Ji Re Gan Mian (hot dry noodles) and three-delicacy tofu skin (san xian dou pi).

The alley was so packed that even walking comfortably, let alone stopping to enjoy the food, was hard. There wasn’t much seating, and loud promotions made the atmosphere chaotic. Prices seemed a little inflated compared with eateries outside the tourist area. I expected more from Wuhan Hubu Alley (Wuhan Hubu Alley), since it’s known as a must-visit food street. There are plenty of snacks and drinks, but the quality felt average, no more special than other food streets or night markets in China. Many stalls sold similar things, and the dishes I tried were just okay, without the bold flavors or authenticity I’d hoped for. The famous hot dry noodles (hot dry noodles) were dry and bland, and the stuffed pancakes (stuffed tofu skin) tasted reheated instead of freshly made. You might find something decent if you just want a quick snack and don’t mind the crowds. But anyone expecting an exceptional food experience will probably be disappointed.

There are a couple of small streets lined with food stalls near the Chang Jiang Da Qiao.

A great spot for authentic Wuhan street food. It’s even better when you have the right company with you.
