Aurum International Hotel

The hotel is in a good location, with plenty of nearby places to eat since the dining options inside are limited. Breakfast was OK. We found the family room clean and comfortable, and the shower had good water pressure. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was excellent value.

One warning: Google Maps puts the hotel in the wrong place and can leave you lost, so check another map before arriving. The staff were very helpful and spoke some English, which was refreshing in China. It’s a quiet four-star hotel, and breakfast is good if you enjoy traditional Chinese food with some American options mixed in.

The staff were nice and the location was good, but I would not stay here again. The non-smoking room smelled of smoke, the Wi-Fi was so slow we couldn’t use the internet, and the pool was closed. The hotel had disabled the air conditioning. Breakfast cost twice as much as at nearby hotels for the same food, and the laundry prices were ridiculous, we’d have been better off buying new clothes. Worst of all, there was no hot water. I asked three times and nothing was done. Apparently room-temperature water was considered fine for showers and hand washing in a four-star hotel, but I disagree. We asked for one extra bottle of water beyond the two provided free. They sent up 3L for 12 RMB, twice what the store next to the hotel charged. It was the first time in China a hotel had tried to charge us for one extra bottle. Try Citadines central hotel instead. They helped us with laundry, Wi-Fi, and breakfast.
