Canaan International Hotel

The hotel matched its online photos, and at $21 for a weekend it was better than I expected. I was on the 10th floor, which was quiet, and the toilets were Western style. There's a mix of movies on channel 51 in English, some good and some not so good. The restaurant downstairs serves good food, and there's also a tasty Western style bakery just south of the hotel in the shopping Plaza, plainly visible across the street when you exit and turn left. Park Qin, the Bell Tower, and the Drum Tower are about 10 minutes away by taxi. The staff were friendly even late at night, when I was adjusting to a 15 hour time difference from the States. The front desk uses a tablet for translation, and there's an English speaking staff member during the day. One tip: it can be a little hard to find the first time. I pointed the taxi driver to the hotel's phone number on my phone and asked them to call for directions.
