Elegant Hotel Xi'an Bell Tower Yongning Gate (South Gate)

The room was large, clean, and elegantly decorated. Breakfast was a small, well-managed buffet that felt like a home-cooked meal, and the attendants were very helpful. My only complaint was the meeting room on the fourth floor near the elevators. People smoked there, and the smell spread through the hallway. They should make it smoke-free or install a much stronger exhaust fan.

The hotel seems fairly new, but traffic noise gets really loud in the evening and at night. Nobody at reception speaks English, and even figuring out how to turn the room lights on and off is a challenge. Breakfast was okay.

The staff made the place feel almost like home. They were warm, friendly, and helpful from the start, and reception was pleasant and professional. It didn’t feel like a big, anonymous hotel, and the family atmosphere came through. We loved the room decor, and the room had a direct, breathtaking view of the ancient city wall. The terrace was quiet and inviting, with a fantastic view of the wall as well. The hotel was clean and well maintained throughout, and the rooms were spotless after daily cleaning. A big thank you to the cleaning staff for their work. The complimentary afternoon tea with little biscuits and the small bowl of soup at night were lovely touches. We spent three unforgettable nights at Mehood Elegant Hotel Xi’an Bell Tower / Yongningmen. After staying in several five-star hotels during our trip around China, this small, charming place was the highlight for us. It’s centrally located near the Bell Tower and the ancient city wall. There can be some traffic noise at night, but that isn’t the hotel’s fault. We highly recommend it and would happily come back. Many thanks to the whole team!
