The hotel is quite a way from the city center, so it seems better suited to large tour groups than to individual travelers without a vehicle. Our room was small but had a modern design and plenty of places to plug in electronics. Housekeeping cleaned it every day. Breakfast started early and offered a good mix of local and international options.

The rooms were okay, but the food and beverage service was lousy. They knew how many guests were staying, yet still didn't prepare enough food. The chef checked in now and then, but refills were extremely slow. Their motto really fits: “Expect the Unexpected.”

The rooms are better laid out than in some other poorly designed Holiday Inn Express hotels in China. The hotel is far from Xian city centre, though it's close to a metro station. Shops are reachable on foot, but there's quite a walk. Breakfast is a problem: there's very little dining space, and it gets overcrowded in the morning. I wouldn't recommend it.

My room was adequate, and the buffet seemed reasonable for the hotel's standard. The downside was the huge takeaway breakfast, which was almost like getting another buffet.
