Jie Fang Hotel - Xi'an

We arrived with a tour group booking and hadn't known what to expect. Cigarette smoke hit us as soon as we entered the lobby. Our first room smelled of smoke too, even though there was a no-smoking sign, and we're both nonsmokers. It seemed someone had smoked there just a few hours before. There was also wallpaper peeling off the wall, with mold visible behind it. I don't understand why housekeeping hadn't told the front desk about the smell or damage so the room could be fixed. We reported the problems and were assigned another room. Its smoke smell wasn't as strong, but it was still clear people had smoked there. Another family in our group found mold in the first room and noticed the same cigarette odor. We didn't feel it was healthy to stay even one night, so our only option was to book another hotel at the last minute. They didn't refund the first night even though we hadn't stayed there. Given the state of the rooms, that wasn't surprising. These were the worst hotel rooms I've seen.
