Xi'an Maiheng Apartment Hotel

It's a pretty social, clean hostel, and the location is very central. There's an underpass just a few meters away that leads straight to the Muslim Quarter. They also try to put guests from the same countries in the same rooms.

The location is good, with everything close by, but the stay itself wasn't the best I've had in a hostel. The room was really hot because the AC didn't work. At 1am, a staff member came in to collect payment from another guest. Surely that could have waited until morning and been handled better. Apart from one volunteer, the reception staff seemed uninterested and almost rude.

The beds were comfortable and had curtains, the rooms were cleaned daily, and they provided some water. There's also plenty of laundry machines. I found the staff friendly, the bar lovely, and both the coffee and beer good. It's a cheap hostel, but the service is amazing. Coming from Europe, I'd call the showers okay, but honestly, they're great by China standards. I had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it.

I loved my four nights here. My capsule bed was comfortable, and the room didn't get too hot. The large social area was the biggest highlight for me, with different kinds of seating, a bar, and some food. The staff were another strong point and did their best to help, even though I had to show one of them how to pour beer! It's close to the subway, Muslim Quarter, and Bell Tower. The laundry room is on site, though it could get quite busy.
