We stayed in the Tanghua suite, which was beautiful and spacious, with a lovely courtyard view. The lounge access that came with our room was a bonus, and the spread there was marvelous. I also loved the Chinese imperial palace style decor and architecture. It was my first time at a Hualuxe property, and I came away in love with it. Breakfast had lots of delicious Chinese options, and the service was top notch despite an occasional language barrier. The location was perfect, too. We had a wonderful time.

We loved taking photos in the garden, and the hotel itself was very nice and clean. Breakfast was included and excellent, with a big range of food. Angel and Jennie at the customer service desk were very helpful and answered all our questions. We'll definitely come back.

We could hear people talking through the room door, and the hallways smelled of smoke at night. November was unusually warm, but we were told the central A/C had been turned off. Avoid/10.

I’m leaving this because there aren’t many reviews here on Google, though there are lots on trip. It’s just my own take, so you may or may not agree. Hope it helps fellow travelers decide. The hotel grounds were a real highlight, with the advertised Tang dynasty style garden, flowers, a pond with ducks, and a peacock that showed up early in the morning. I kept my distance because I worried it might attack me, though it seemed friendly. I saw a little girl walk near it and it was fine. Some stupid people smoking did spoil the garden. We were about a 10-minute easy, flat walk from the city center, with shops and a shopping mall. Getting to the train station took much longer. I think we came from Xian N station, around a 40-minute drive away, but the stations here are massive, and North station can be a 30-minute drive from the South one, unlike in the UK. Our F1 taxi driver drove insanely fast and it was scary. I didn't know how to ask him to slow down. With a sensible driver, an hour seems a reasonable estimate. Check-in was quick. There was a bit of a language barrier, but it wasn't a big issue. Receptionist lady Amy used her app, and I used my Google Translate with my own data and access to my usual apps like FB, IG, Google, and Whatsapp. The bell boy was keen to help with our bags, but I always carry mine because there's a camera in it. We actually had a suite. The outside view wasn't the best, but we didn't care because the interior was simply beautiful, very "chinese-style". There was a mini bar, but we didn't use the drinks because they are always priced too high. We bought some from shops and put them in the fridge instead. The room also had a fridge, tea, coffee, an iron and ironing board, a walk in wardrobe, a safe deposit box of the usual size, a writing desk, a sofa, and two TVs, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The black out curtains worked. Bed sheets, duvet, and pillows were comfortable, and we didn't hear any noise. Breakfast was another wow. Go try it yourself. There were more Chinese than Western options, which I prefer because I'm tired of cereal and toast. We had dinner twice at Cai Fung.... I forgot the full name. The food was very nice and the service excellent. Having IHG F&B vouchers made it even better. USD 20 was 137.16 CNY on 24th April 2026. The toilet and bathroom felt luxurious, the amenities were good quality, and there was a Dyson hairdryer for the Mrs. Yours sincerely unfortunately doesn't have much left on the scalp to blow dry. Laundry cost 15CNY for a t-shirt, around £1.70. We washed a few things, normal service, not express because we weren't willing to pay more. The gym was on level 1, which is ground floor in the UK, then down a staircase, so I guess one level down. It's very basic. The swimming pool was closed, dunno why. It was easy to get a taxi, and staff would help, but we didn't need one since places were walking distance. Check-out was swift. They accepted major credit cards, Alipay, and Wechat Pay too, of course. IHG points were already rewarded.

A lovely hotel in Xi’an, near a tourist spot and a shopping mall.
