The harbour view from the windows was nice, and the hotel has a new lobby, spacious rooms, good furnishings, a fitness centre, and swimming pools. It’s a good four-star hotel, with the kind of facilities I expect from a Courtyard in the Marriott chain. Breakfast at the Goji restaurant in the Marriott hotel had a good selection, though the food quality wasn’t up to the standard of other Asian hotels in the chain. Service also fell short of what I expected. Staff weren’t proactive and showed little eye contact or courtesy during conversations. The hotel is in Haicang district, some distance from Haicang Bay Park MRT station and about a 30-minute drive from Xiamen’s tourist attractions.

The ocean view was beautiful, the room was very clean, and the staff were friendly and quick to respond to requests. Courtyard by Marriott shares a building with the Marriott hotel, whose swimming pools, hot tub, steam room, sauna, and gym guests can use. The outdoor pool was great, though you need a swimming cap to go in. I booked without breakfast but decided to try it for a day. The front desk suggested booking ahead because it costs less than the door price. Breakfast was great, with Western and local food. My only complaint is that DiDi drivers couldn’t find the Courtyard hotel lobby. It’s better to meet them at the Marriott hotel lobby.

The location was convenient, and the price was good value. The stay was just what I expect from the Bonvoy Marriot chain. The rooms were comfortable, and housekeeping staff were really friendly. She even remembered us after we went away to Wuyishan for one night and left our room empty for two days. Mr. Pocket Lu, the bellhop, gave us the best service with a smile. He went out of his way to help with our taobao order. Two thumbs up for him.

The lobby felt small and hot when I first arrived, but the room really surprised me. It was large and spotless, with a super-soft bed and a seaview right in front of me. I had a pleasant stay in Xiamen.
