I couldn't get the WiFi working, but my roaming service worked, so it wasn't a big problem. The room was huge and clean, check-in was easy, and the receptionist was lovely. Xiamen Airlines provides the hotel free for passengers with a long layover. The airport shuttle was taking too long, so one of the guys kindly drove us over in a car. If you're only here for a few hours, take a walk to the nearby food street: leave the hotel, turn left on the main road, walk about 100m to the traffic lights, then turn left. The street goes on for quite a while, with plenty of local street food, pharmacies, and grocery stores.

The room is large, but the bathroom feels worn, with mold around the silicone edges and a slippery floor. You can't adjust the AC. The restaurant attendant and receptionist were rude, and although breakfast is meant to start at 6:30am, preparation was late and nobody apologized. That's frustrating at a transit hotel where guests may need to hurry for their next flight. Being so close to the airport also means loud plane noise as they pass. Earplugs are provided.

Dayi Yihao hotel is handy for a Xiamen layover because it's very close to the airport. Xiamen airlines often use it for passengers who are offloaded or have long waits between flights. The rooms are fine, with comfortable beds and hot showers.

I booked through Traveloka, and the concierge told me I'd reserved a student room, which was very small. Traveloka hadn't said that was what I was booking, so the hotel upgraded me straight to a suite. Thank you very much.
