Mr. Liu’s tireless, careful service added two stars for me, so my stay gets a six-star rating. I’d call the hotel itself a solid four-star place. Keep it up Liao Xing. Room 1017.

The Mercure name made me expect more, but it fell short. The bathroom is open concept, with no proper enclosed area, and the twin room is small, really just enough space to walk around. Two suitcases are a problem. Breakfast was mostly basic bread and seemed aimed more at local tastes than international standards. It’s not expensive for this area, but PLEASE check before you book.

The location worked really well, close to the metro and good places to eat, with taxis making trips to the airport and intercity train station convenient. Rooms were clean, though the toilet setup is a bit unusual. What I liked most was how friendly and helpful everyone was at Grand Mercure Xiamen. We kept asking for advice and help booking tickets, and they were patient with us. Even the lobby tea server was warm and chatty. I loved staying here, especially for the affordable price and great value.

Right by the hotel exit, there’s a metro entrance. Inside, the place was quiet, clean, and well maintained, with a generous buffet of tasty Chinese dishes and a few Western choices. A very good hotel in the heart of the island.
